Titan Quest has slashed its way on to consoles almost 12 years after its PC debut. Despite the game being over a decade late to consoles it still looks pretty good for its age. The game has some fairly well detailed environments, good sound design with decent voice acting and comes with an epic sound track from composers Scott Morton and Michael Varrette.

This action role playing game takes place in Ancient Greece where history meets mythology. Within the first cut scene you are attacked by a Medusa type creature who turns a soldier to stone with her lethal gaze. Now as you can expect the game has all sorts of mythological abominations to come up against, this helps keep encounters fresh and interesting. Not only has the game got an authentic tone to its regional voice acting but has a well written narrative penned by no other than the Braveheart writer Randall Wallace.

You can play Titan Quest console edition as either a male or female character in offline single player or online with up-to 6 players. There's no character customisation options available, although the game does boast 36 different combination of classes and over a 1000 pieces of unique and legendary items. OK lets stop for a minute, I know what you are thinking. All those items on the ground, it looks worse than a teenagers bedroom floor. But don’t worry, there’s a fix for that.

No, not the teenagers floor, I don’t want to push the nuke button. I mean a fix for all the items. Just one click of an option and all the labels have vanished, voila!

There are some basic tutorials at the start of the game, but there's no hand holding here and it does need some exploring.

As I progressed through the game I started to unlock magical abilities and the game gives you 9 options of mastery ranging from “Storm” which has Ice and Lightening abilities, to “Earth” That deals fire damage for instance. You can combine 2 mastery levels once you reach level 8 and you can spend skill points every time you level up to increase the power of a skill or unlock a new one. Mixing up these powers makes combat fun and varied.

The cross over from PC to console has left the console control system feeling like it still needs some tweaking and it took me awhile to get used to it especially the movement system. However this is a small gripe and didn't effect my overall fun in the game.

For a game released in 2006 Titan Quest Console edition still has plenty to offer. My time playing the game has been fun. If you are looking for a game similar to Diablo, one with a rich mythology and good story then give it a play. You can get this now for a reduced price and it’s out now on PS4 and XBox One, with a Nintendo switch release coming at a later date. Check out the games website for more information HERE!

I’d like to give a shout out to Lina at THQNordic, thank you.
