On Friday The 13th of April 2018 EGX Rezzed kicked off at the tobacco dock London bringing together gamers and game developers alike. Amongst all of the different game genres on show at this event in this blog, I will be covering the Ones that really stood out to me.
These games are in no particular order.
The halls were filled with eager players hoping to play some of the freshest forthcoming game releases along with some classics.
SEGA Megadrive Classics
While I mention classics, SEGA is soon to release Megadrive classics which is kind of new and old at the same time. The collection comes with over 50 of the most popular titles including some of my all-time favourite arcade games such as Streets of Rage and Golden Axe. The games will also come with some upgrade features such as slightly upgraded resolutions and a rewind and fast forward option. The game also lets you fast forward cutscenes.
Megadrive Classics will be released at the end of May 2018 on Ps4 and Xbox One. More info can be found on the website HERE
Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn
Shaq Fu is a 2d side-scrolling beat em up from Wired productions, it has a colourful art design and witty banter between characters making this game, not just fun but funny as well. The game is set to release on June 5th, 2018. more info about the game can be found on the developer's website HERE
Everspace
Everspace is a 3D rouge like space shooter from small studio Rock Fish Games. You play as a human clone fighting your way through space while learning about your own existence. The game can be played in 3rd or 1st person view and comes with 3 difficulty levels including a Hardcore mode for people who want the ultimate challenge. The game is currently released on PC and will be coming to PS4 soon. More info is available on the game's website HERE
Heavens Vault
Heavens Vault is a story book style game from Inkle studios, its an exploration and investigation game with an air of mystery. It reminded me of a pop-up adventure book but in a digital form. You play as a Woman called Aliya and together with her robot sidekick 6 you are tasked with finding a missing person. As you play you will learn a fictitious ancient language which will help you solve word puzzles throughout the game.
Along with the demo the development team had these cute little cards that help give you an idea of what to expect from the game as the demo is only a small portion. These pictures show what was written on One of the cards.
The game is currently planned for an early 2019 release and will come as a timed exclusive on PS4 and will later release on PC and iOS. Check out the website for more details HERE
Strange Brigade

Strange brigade is a tongue in cheek 1920's adventure that takes you through Mummy infested lands. This Indiana Jones themed game sees characters treasure hunting through a fictional North Africa. This is a very slick looking game and comes from rebellion studios, the guys who made the Sniper series. There are no bullet cams here though but plenty of powered up historical weapons to blast your enemies back to their sarcophagus.

The game allows up to 4 players in online co-op or single player but has no PvP modes. There is no current release date yet but rebellion has said this will be announced soon.

Catastronauts
Catastronauts is a new Indie IP from Inertia studios and it's been in the making for just under a year. This local couch co-op game looks fun and frantic and is definitely a game to have some fun along with friends, after a few drinks and pizza!
I had the chance to speak with Lauren who is one of the creative team members. I asked her what the games was about to which she replied that “You are cadets in space fleet, an enemy fleet invades and you must fight back'” The main focus of the game is teamwork, this hectic space adventure sees a team of 4 players working as a team to repair the ship before it is destroyed while also fighting back by firing laser cannons towards the enemy.
Although the game is predominantly a team game you can play it solo and switch between characters on the fly.
Catasronauts is pencilled for a release at the end of the year with an official release date still to be announced. You can check more out on the game at the website HERE
The Swords Of Ditto
The Swords Of Ditto is a new IP from developer One Bit Beyond and publisher Devolver Digital. The game does have a noticeable 80 & 90s RPG influence and I did get an early Zelda vibe from it. Together with these elements, the game has a very colourful art design and randomly generated zones.
You have 5 in-game days to collect swords and equipment which you'll need to fight a boss once your time is up including the main enemy the evil Mormo. If you are under prepared and unable to defeat these enemies you will die and re-spawn but it will be 100 years later.
You will notice within this time frame the world has decayed and the tone of the music will change to support a more sombre mood. NPCs will also become increasingly annoyed and unimpressed with your ability to defend them and will show this in conversations and interactions.
The Swords Of Ditto is a 1 or 2 player game and is set for a release on the 24th of April 2018 on PS4 and PC. More info can be found on the game's website HERE
Immortal Unchained
Immortal Unchained is a 3rd person shooter from Toadman interactive and published by Soldout. If you can imagine what a sci-fi Dark Souls would be like, with energy weapons, different enemy races and a sprinkling of Gothic themes then, in a nutshell, it sums it up. When I asked one of the developers about the narrative he gave me the following synopsis. Your World is ending, you have been imprisoned for lifetimes and only released as a last-ditch attempt to try and stop what is happening, all while trying to find out who you are!
Immortal Unchained incorporates a health and stamina management system. Running, dogging and shooting will consume stamina. You also have an energy system used for special attacks. As you shoot and slash your way through the 9 different planets you will collect bits. These bits are used to upgrade attributes, but beware, if you die you will drop these bits and you will need to find and collect them again or they are lost forever.
When it comes to weapon variety in this game you will be spoilt for choice as it boasts over 100 different types.
The game is set to release on PS4, PC and Xbox later this year with no release date as yet. More info can be found on the website HERE
MotherGunShip
MotherGunShip sees you battling your way to the heart of the fleet in this doom style 1st person shooter.
Created on Unreal engine by Prague based Grip Digital this game teams you up with friends to build your own monstrous weapons and take on the MotherGunShip.
This game is to be released on all major platforms and will be out in 2018.
