Is Vvardenfell a Fail?

I've been a fan of The Elder scrolls series since Oblivion on PS3 back in 2007. I, unfortunately had no access to a gaming PC so missed out on the earlier instalment of The Elder scrolls 3 (2002) which the new Morrowind expansion is based on. With that aside, however, I still spent enough hours playing Oblivion and Skyrim to feel like I'd earned my keep in the fantasy world of Elder scrolls. My favourite game of all time (up to this point) is Skyrim and there had been many times I had thought “how cool would this be if I could explore this dungeon online with a friend”! Unfortunately, Skyrim was a single player experience. You can imagine my excitement when I heard the news back in 2013 that a scrolls game was coming in 2014 that was a massively multiplayer online game. The game released and as many agree the game just didn't feel like Skyrim which is what everyone had hoped it would be. The game still oozed elder scrolls lore and is the nearest you'll get to Skyrim online at this point, but like me many people soon found the repetitive style quests, finding other players beating you to the enemies subsequently killing them before you have a chance meaning you'd have to wait for them to re-spawn and the microtransaction heavy add on cosmetic items soon became annoying and I stopped playing it.

In my time away Zenimax online worked at balancing the gameplay and levelling system and also unlocked more areas meaning you'd have more space and variety to find a less crowded game. In the run up to the Morrowind expansion, I have spent some time on ESO to find the tweaks a pleasant surprise but can Morrowind reignite my thirst for questing? Since its release on the 6th of June 2017, I have enjoyed a smooth connection and found the colourful giant mushroom filled land of Vvardenfell an interesting place to explore. I've also found the story a little more straight forward, helping the living God Vivec try and locate who is draining his power. A refreshing change from the confusing quest lines from the ESO Tamriel Unlimited.
So with the time I've spent playing the Morrowind add-on so far I have to say I'm enjoying it. It still lacks the level of detail and feels you get from Skyrim but as I've said earlier it's the nearest you'll get to an online Skyrim game with a familiar feel and lore. Playing as the new Warden class Skill line is also pretty fun, they seem to have an ability to tame nature and beasts which is pretty cool. Should you get it I hear you ask? If you like the world of The Elder scrolls or like the original base game for ESO then I'd say yes, adventure awaits, just don't take an arrow to the knee.
